Global oil prices fell on Friday, 9 October 2026, as reports of progress in US–Iran talks eased concerns over potential supply disruptions in the Middle East.

Brent crude, the international benchmark, traded at $102.91 per barrel, down 1.3%, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell 1.2% to $90.40 per barrel.

The decline came amid signs of progress in diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran, which helped ease concerns about possible disruptions to regional oil supplies.

The Middle East remains a key region for global energy markets, with any escalation in tensions potentially affecting crude oil production, exports and shipping routes.

Oil prices remain sensitive to developments in the region, as well as changes in global demand and supply expectations.
