The third edition of the Mawlana Festival, held in Sulaymaniyah Governorate, was a resounding success, surpassing all expectations and establishing itself as one of the Region’s largest entertainment events in recent years. The festival achieved its aims of boosting the local economy while providing a distinctive recreational space for families.
The event attracted more than 165,000 visitors from across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, with the participation of over 100 local brands and businesses.
According to the organisers, the festival placed a strong emphasis on supporting young entrepreneurs by offering free promotional opportunities for start-ups and small businesses to showcase their products and handicrafts.
Hawar Kamal, one of the festival organisers, said the event received widespread praise from both visitors and business owners. He added that the final day witnessed a notable influx of tourists from Iraq’s central and southern governorates, facilitated through cooperation with tourism offices.
To reflect the diversity of its audience, the festival organisers dedicated the closing day to Arabic-language performances and musical entertainment, creating a welcoming atmosphere that strengthened cultural and social ties among attendees.
