Iraq's Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) said on Wednesday that 20 of its members had been killed and 32 others injured in what it described as joint US-Saudi airstrikes on its facilities across several Iraqi provinces.

In a statement, the PMF said the preliminary casualty figures were based on initial assessments following what it called "terrorist attacks" targeting a number of its official headquarters.

According to the group, the strikes hit PMF facilities in Baghdad, Wasit, Nineveh, Basra, Kirkuk, Karbala and Diyala, causing casualties as well as varying degrees of damage to headquarters, military vehicles and equipment.

The PMF said specialist teams remain on the ground assessing the damage and verifying information, adding that the casualty figures are preliminary and could rise as search operations continue and field reports are finalised.
