Sulaymaniyah Governor Condemns Attacks on City and Kurdistan Region

Sulaymaniyah Governor, Dr Haval Abu Bakr.
Dr Haval Abu Bakr, Governor of Sulaymaniyah, has issued a statement on Friday, 17 July 2026 condemning the attacks targeting the city of Sulaymaniyah and the Kurdistan Region. He stressed that both the Kurdistan Region and the local administration in Sulaymaniyah remain neutral and have no involvement in the ongoing regional conflict.
The Governor also urged residents to stay away from the sites affected by the attacks and to avoid obstructing the work of the Asayish, the Ministry of Interior, and other relevant authorities, allowing them to carry out their duties effectively and professionally.
In his statement, Dr Abu Bakr reaffirmed that the Kurdistan Region and the Sulaymaniyah administration are acting responsibly and are not parties to the conflict. He called on the public to cooperate fully with the security forces and emergency services as they respond to the situation.
