Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi has expressed his deep appreciation to the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) for supporting the government's efforts to combat corruption.
In a post on the social media platform X, al-Zaidi said his government would continue "with unwavering determination" to pursue those involved in corruption, recover state assets, and strengthen institutions founded on the rule of law and justice.
"We will not retreat from this path, regardless of the scale of the challenges or the pressures we face," he said.
The Prime Minister also thanked the Iraqi people, political parties, public figures and institutions that have backed the government's anti-corruption campaign, specifically acknowledging the PUK for its support.
He further expressed his appreciation to the Iraqi Parliament, the Supreme Judicial Council, the country's senior religious authorities, the leader of the Shiite National Movement, Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr, the Coordination Framework, the National Political Council, and other groups and individuals that have supported the government's efforts to tackle corruption.
Al-Zaidi said the broad national backing demonstrated that the fight against corruption "is not solely the government's battle, but a battle for the entire nation", adding that it reflects a shared commitment to protecting public funds, upholding the rule of law, and safeguarding Iraq's future.
