Qubad Talabani meets Faramarz Asadi in Erbil.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Qubad Talabani met with Faramarz Asadi, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil, to discuss a number of issues of shared interest.
During the meeting, held on Wednesday, 10 June 2026, both sides reviewed the latest developments in the region. Qubad Talabani expressed hope that the ongoing talks between the United States and Iran would produce a positive outcome for all parties and contribute to lasting peace and stability.
Turning to developments in Iraq and the formation of the next federal government, the Deputy Prime Minister said there is a valuable opportunity to address the outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad. He stressed the importance of continued cooperation and coordination between Erbil and Baghdad to support economic growth, improve public services, and raise living standards.
The discussions also covered the political situation within the Kurdistan Region. In this regard, Qubad Talabani highlighted the need for greater efforts to overcome the current political deadlock and called for the resumption of dialogue among the political parties to form a government based on genuine partnership and cooperation.
