319 Dead, 260 Missing After 7.4-Magnitude Colombia Earthquake.

At least 319 people have died and 260 remain missing following the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck Colombia, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Unit.

In a statement posted on X, the agency said 4,469 people had been injured and 364 rescued, while 549 animals had also been recovered.

Authorities said the latest assessment showed that the earthquake had destroyed around 31,000 homes and damaged a further 151,995 buildings.

The earthquake struck near the city of San José del Palmar in Colombia’s western Chocó department on 10 August.

Its effects were felt across 15 departments, according to officials. Earlier reports had put the death toll at 312.
