Iraq and Iran Seek to Strengthen Parliamentary Coordination.

On Wednesday, 19 August 2026, Harem Kamal Agha, head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) bloc in the Iraqi parliament, attended a meeting of parliamentary bloc leaders with Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s parliament.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and Iran and expanding cooperation and coordination across various fields, particularly between the two countries’ parliaments.

The two sides also agreed to reactivate the friendship and coordination committees between both parliaments, with the aim of strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and broadening joint cooperation in ways that serve the shared interests of both countries and their peoples.
