A framework bill prepared as part of Türkiye's peace process and efforts to strengthen democratic society is due to be submitted to the Presidency of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) today, 5 August 2026.

Titled the "Bill on Strengthening National Unity and Social Cohesion", and widely referred to as the Framework Bill, the proposed legislation is expected to be formally presented to parliament before midday.

Following its submission, senior representatives of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) are scheduled to hold a joint press conference.

Among those expected to address the media are AK Party Parliamentary Group Chairman Abdullah Güler, Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala and the party's deputy group chairs, alongside MHP Deputy Parliamentary Group Chairs Erkan Akçay, Filiz Kılıç and Fethi Yıldız.

Meanwhile, the Central Executive Board of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) met on Tuesday to discuss the legislation. According to reports, the party's co-chairs, members of the İmralı delegation, the DEM Party parliamentary executive board and several MPs are expected to sign the bill.

Media reports indicate that the Framework Bill is due to be considered by the Justice Commission of the Turkish Parliament on Friday. Once approved by the committee, it is expected to be fast-tracked to the General Assembly for debate and a final vote, with lawmakers aiming to pass the legislation before the end of the week.
