Trump Warns of Expanded US Strikes on Iran if No Agreement Is Reached

US President Donald Trump has warned that Washington could expand its military strikes on Iran next week to include power plants and bridges if Tehran fails to reach a new agreement.

Speaking in an interview with Fox News, Trump said that “next week is going to be very bad” for Iran, warning that US forces would target key infrastructure, including power facilities and bridges, unless Tehran returns to negotiations.

“We are going to destroy all of their power plants. We are going to destroy all of their bridges unless they come back to the negotiating table,” Trump said.

The US president said military operations against Iran would continue until he decided they had achieved their objective. He added that Washington was delaying strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure “until the end”, claiming that Iran’s ability to resist had been significantly reduced.

Trump also stated that US operations had caused major damage to Iran’s military capabilities, claiming that restoring those capabilities could take around two decades if the strikes were to stop immediately.

The president said US representatives held talks with Iranian officials on Tuesday and that Washington had urged Tehran to reach an agreement. He outlined that the US objectives were to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, maintain freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, and weaken Iran’s military capabilities, reiterating that “Iran will never possess a nuclear weapon”.

The comments came after the US military announced on Tuesday evening that it had carried out strikes against Iran for the fourth consecutive day.

In a statement published on its X account, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the operations were aimed at reducing Iranian capabilities used to target commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM added that the strikes were being conducted as US forces prepared to re-establish a naval blockade around Iranian ports and coastal areas.

The latest strikes mark another escalation in tensions between Washington and Tehran, following Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz last week and increasing fears of a broader regional conflict.
