Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, received Patrick Durel, the French Ambassador to Iraq.

Qubad Talabani, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, received Patrick Durel, the French Ambassador to Iraq, on Tuesday, on 2 June 2026, to discuss a number of issues of mutual interest.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad. Deputy Prime Minister Talabani expressed optimism that the new Iraqi government would be able to resolve the main outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad, particularly those related to the budget and public sector salaries.

Regarding the political situation in the Kurdistan Region, Talabani stressed the importance of resuming negotiations to form a new cabinet. He reaffirmed: "We are ready to establish a government based on genuine partnership that serves all Kurdish people without discrimination."
