PUK Official and Chinese Consul General Emphasise Strategic Dialogue and Regional Stability

PUK’s Darbaz Kosrat welcomes Chinese CG Liu Jun.

On Thursday, Darbaz Kosrat Rasul and the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Erbil emphasised the importance of long-term strategic dialogue for resolving international issues and strengthening regional stability.

This position was shared during an official meeting held at the Political Bureau headquarters of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in Erbil. Darbaz Kosrat Rasul, a member of the PUK Political Bureau, received Liu Jun, the Chinese Consul General to the Kurdistan Region, and his deputy, Zhang Jianxin, to discuss the latest political developments in Iraq and the region.

A main focus of the discussions was dedicated to reviewing the outcomes of the recent Beijing summit between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump. The Chinese CG highlighted Beijing's ongoing commitment to using diplomacy as the primary tool for settling major global crises.

In another part of the meeting, both sides highly praised UN Resolution 2758, viewing it as a legal and international foundation for consolidating the principles of sovereignty and international stability. The parties agreed that a mutual understanding of international law is the bedrock of Beijing's relations with the outside world.

Furthermore, both sides emphasised the long-standing relationship between the Chinese Communist Party and the PUK, noting that it has a solid, historical foundation which they intend to develop further.
