PUK President Emphasises Importance of Preserving, Developing Kurdish Language

On Kurdish Language Day, Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), emphasised the importance of preserving and developing the Kurdish language.

President Bafel said in a message marking Kurdish Language Day: 

On Kurdish Language Day, we celebrate this beautiful language, which is a fortress that protects our identity. The Kurdish language is not only a means of communication for us, but also a history of steadfastness and the identity of our existence.

The Kurdistan Region has always been enriched by multilingualism and the cultural diversity of its communities. Preserving the Kurdish language, while also respecting the languages of all indigenous communities living together in this country, is a hallmark of civilisation and a fundamental principle of statehood.

Following President Mam Jalal's path, we in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan emphasise the importance of preserving the authenticity of the Kurdish language and further developing it within educational and official institutions.
