President Amedi Receives French Ambassador to Discuss Strengthening Iraq-France Relations

Iraqi President received French Ambassador.

Iraqi President Nizar Amedi received the French Ambassador to Iraq, Patrick Durell, at the Salam Palace in Baghdad on Thursday, 14 May 2026. Ambassador Durell congratulated President Amedi on assuming the presidency and wished him every success in his duties, along with continued stability and prosperity for the Iraqi people.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between Iraq and France, as well as ways to strengthen cooperation across a range of fields. The President stressed the importance of further developing ties with France and broadening the scope of joint cooperation, while commending France’s supportive position towards Iraq in various sectors.
