Deputy PM Meets Former Turkish President, Discusses Peace Process

Deputy PM and Former Turkish President meet in Greece.

Qubad Talabani has met former Turkish President Abdullah Gül, where discussions focused on the peace process in Türkiye and broader regional developments.

During the meeting, Talabani commended Gül’s consistent support for efforts aimed at advancing the peace process in Türkiye, highlighting its importance for long-term stability.

Gül, in turn, reflected on the vision of the late President Jalal Talabani, noting his commitment to resolving the Kurdish issue through peaceful dialogue with Turkish officials and avoiding conflict.

The talks also touched on current regional tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran, with Gül praising the positions of the Kurdistan Region and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in this regard.

In addition, he commended the PUK’s efforts following recent administrative changes in Kirkuk, particularly its role in promoting coexistence and strengthening brotherhood among the province’s diverse communities.
