PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani.
In a message, Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), has thanked the people of the Kurdistan Region for their resilience during recent nights of instability, stressing that the party is pursuing diplomatic efforts with regional and international leaders to safeguard the region.
President Bafel's message read:
Beloved people of the Kurdistan Region,
The Kurdistan Region has endured several nights of hardship. We extend our gratitude for your resilience and understanding in the face of this turbulent situation that has swept through our region, and this is exactly what is expected from our beloved and courageous people.
In the past few days, we have pursued all our diplomatic efforts, engaging at the highest levels with the leaders of Iran, the United States, and Türkiye, with the aim of safeguarding Kurdistan in this situation.
Following the remarks of President Trump and President Pezeshkian, we await that the turmoil will be driven away from the Kurdistan Region.
We have submitted the names of certain individuals and parties to Baghdad who are carrying out attacks against the Kurdistan Region. We await Baghdad to take serious steps toward implementing the necessary measures. I know that our friends in Baghdad are making every effort to prevent further turmoil, but if no action is taken, then we will deal with them ourselves.
Iraq is a country with a great civilisation and a unique history, and all its civil efforts must be directed toward stability and peace in this region.
