Iran and Israel launched another round of attacks on Friday after seven days of ongoing hostilities, with Israel stating that Iran is using two highly destructive missiles that it claims could constitute war crimes because of the extensive damage they may cause.
Israeli media reported that Iran possesses two types of deadly missiles, including the Khorramshahr-4 missile, which can carry approximately 1,500 kilograms of payload. According to the reports, the missile can split into dozens of fragments before reaching its target within an eight-kilometre radius. Israeli sources said one such missile has been used so far.
The Israeli media also reported that Iran posses another missile, referred to as the Rastakhiz missile, which is considered even more dangerous than the Khorramshahr missile. Israeli officials argue that the use of such weapons could constitute war crimes because of the extensive destruction they may cause.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Thursday that it had carried out strikes on Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport and the “27th Squadron” base of the Israeli Air Force, using “Khorramshahr-4 heavy missiles.”
According to the IRGC, the missiles travel at extremely high speeds, making them difficult for Israel’s air defence systems to intercept, including those deployed over Tel Aviv. The group added that several missiles had passed through the defences and struck their intended targets.
The IRGC also stated that some of the missiles used were fragmentation-type weapons capable of striking up to 20 targets and covering a wide area, which it claimed makes them extremely difficult for air defence systems to stop.
Iranian sources said that one of the missiles fired towards Israel was dedicated to the memory of girls killed at a Minab Elementary School. According to Iran, Israeli attacks on the first day of the war killed 160 students at the school.
The current conflict began on 28 February 2026, when Israel, with support from the United States, launched a joint military offensive against Iran after the two sides failed to reach a deal on Iran's nuclear programme. The hostilities have continued since then.
