PUK's Pire Meets German CG to Discuss Iraq and Regional Developments

Saadi Ahmad Pire meets German CG Albrecht von Wittke.
Saadi Ahmad Pire, a member of the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received Albrecht von Wittke, Germany’s Consul General to the Kurdistan Region, at the Political Bureau headquarters in Erbil.
The meeting focused on the political situation in Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and the wider region, with particular attention given to developments following the recent parliamentary elections in both Kurdistan and Iraq, and the process of forming the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Both sides underlined the importance of a fair distribution of powers and respect for the rights and achievements of all Iraqi communities, with the aim of establishing a political framework, domestically and internationally, that ensures peace as well as political and socio-economic stability for the Iraqi people.
Pire outlined the PUK’s perspectives on the situation in Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and the region as a whole, as well as the vision for the future political process. He expressed hope that the discussions would lead to outcomes that serve the interests of the Iraqi people and contribute to a brighter future.
For his part, Wittke said the German government places significant importance on developments in the region, particularly the formation of a new Iraqi government. He stressed Germany’s desire for peace, security, and political stability in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, noting their readiness to facilitate, coordinate, and support the Iraqi people. He also welcomed the agreement between the Syrian government and Syrian Democratic Forces, congratulated both sides, and expressed hope that the agreement would endure.
