Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump in Florida on Sunday for high-level talks aimed at advancing a peace framework to end Russia’s nearly four-year war against Ukraine. The meeting comes amid intensified diplomatic efforts to secure a lasting resolution to the conflict.
Zelenskyy said the discussions will focus on a 20-point peace plan that is reportedly about 90 per cent complete, as well as key issues including security guarantees for Ukraine and efforts to address territorial disputes, particularly in eastern regions such as the Donbas and around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
The proposed peace framework has been the subject of months of negotiation and is part of a broader U.S.-led diplomatic push involving Ukrainian and American envoys. Security guarantees — potentially resembling NATO-style commitments — and an economic roadmap are central to discussions, though differences remain over how to balance territorial questions with Ukraine’s sovereignty and security needs.
Zelenskyy has acknowledged that while a final agreement may not be reached immediately, the meeting presents an opportunity to finalise as much as possible before the New Year. He has also signalled willingness to involve European partners in the peace process, although logistical challenges make their direct participation in Sunday’s talks uncertain.
