PUK President Bafel Jalal Talabani.
On
the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Bafel
Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, affirmed that the PUK has consistently
championed women's rights and firmly believes in their roles and capabilities.
In his address to women, President
Bafel stated:
On
the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we
reaffirm our dedication to supporting, defending the rights of, and realising the aspirations of women. We emphasise
fostering a more conducive and healthy environment for Kurdish women to engage
increasingly in management centres and contribute to the country's development
and building a brighter future.
The
PUK has consistently and proudly
championed women and their relentless endeavours to fight violence, promote
justice, and foster a stable society. It has firmly recognised the role and
capacities of women, who constituted an influential component of the party's
structures. Certainly, we will keep going with the same commitment and spirit
in the future, with women as our partners in advancing towards a more
prosperous Kurdistan.
On
this day, we must accentuate our
unwavering commitment to confronting and prosecuting individuals who harass and
perpetrate violence against women in whatever form. Wherever there are
violations, we will challenge them and take legal action against anyone at any
rank and position. We assert that justice and equality in society are
unattainable if women are not afforded peace, stability, and protection of
their rights and aspirations.
