PUK Spokesperson Meets with Japan's CG to Discuss Regional Stability & Cooperation

The meeting of PUK Spokesperson & Japan CG.
Saadi Ahmed Pire, a member of the Political Bureau and spokesperson for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with Arakawa Mikihiro, the Consul General of Japan in the Kurdistan Region, at the Political Bureau's headquarters in Erbil today.
The two discussed the political, economic, and military situation in Iraq, Kurdistan, and the wider region, particularly focusing on the recent parliamentary elections in Kurdistan and the parties’ responses to the results. Pire expressed hope that relations between the Kurdistan Region and Japan would strengthen across various sectors and that progress would be achieved.
Pire emphasised that the unity and solidarity of political forces and parties in the Kurdistan Region are essential for safeguarding and fulfilling the rights and privileges outlined in the Iraqi Constitution.
Mr Mikihiro remarked, "I extend my congratulations to the people of the Kurdistan Region on the parliamentary elections held on October 20. The process was conducted peacefully in the region. It is important for the parties to resolve any electoral disputes through established legal channels and to expedite the formation of an inclusive government."
He also highlighted Japan's desire for political stability, economic development, and further progress in Iraq, particularly in the Kurdistan Region, adding that Japan is prepared for political and economic cooperation, noting that Japanese companies possess extensive experience across various sectors.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Pire commended Japanese governmental agencies for their collaboration and coordination with Kurdistan Region institutions, especially the Japan International Cooperation Agency, which plays a significant role in enhancing administrative capacities and improving the skills of employees within the Kurdistan Regional Government.
