The Iraqi parliament is scheduled to host the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq on Thursday to discuss the federal government’s decision to adjust the dollar exchange rate.

Dr Bryar Rashid, an MP from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) bloc, told PUKMEDIA that the Iraqi parliament discussed the implications of the federal government’s decision during Wednesday’s session.

He said that, following a request from several MPs, the parliament’s presidency decided to host Finance Minister Falih Sari and Central Bank of Iraq Governor Nizar Nasser to discuss the decision, the reasons behind it and its potential impact on citizens’ living conditions.

The Central Bank of Iraq announced on Wednesday that the exchange rate of the Iraqi dinar against the US dollar had been adjusted, with the new rates taking effect on 7 October 2026.

The rates are as follows:

-Dollar purchase price from the Ministry of Finance: 1,500 Iraqi dinars per US dollar.
-Dollar selling price to banks: 1,510 Iraqi dinars per US dollar.
-Cash selling price to the public: 1,520 Iraqi dinars per US dollar.
