Kurdish Students Achieve Top Results at 2026 Arab Mental Arithmetic Competition

Four Kurdish students achieved outstanding results, including first place, at the 2026 Arab Summit Competition for Mental Arithmetic and Intelligence, according to the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Education.

The competition, held in Saudi Arabia, brought together 210 students from the Kurdistan Region, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan, Palestine, Iraq and Morocco.

Four students from the Kurdistan Region competed alongside participants from across the participating countries and achieved notable results.

Abdulrahman Araz, a student at Cambridge School in Erbil, secured first place and the top gold medal in Level H, the competition’s most challenging category, after answering the highest number of questions correctly.

Three students from Piramagrun district also achieved strong results. Hamno won a gold medal in Level F, Rovar received a gold medal in Level C, while Ravel secured a silver medal in Level G.

The Ministry of Education said this was the second consecutive year that Kurdish students had participated in the international championship, highlighting their strong performance throughout the competition.
