On the occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister congratulated the Peshmerga minister, undersecretaries, directors, commanders, advisers and all those who contributed to efforts to unite and reorganise the Peshmerga forces.

He stressed that the current stage is the stage of further training and arming the Peshmerga, noting that efforts are being made to include a representative of the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs on the committee established to secure the Kurdistan Region’s rights and financial entitlements in Iraq's federal budget, with the aim of ensuring the Peshmerga forces’ rights and entitlements are properly safeguarded.
Talabani also said efforts would continue to bring the salaries of the Peshmerga forces in line with those of their counterparts in the Iraqi army.
