Dana Gas is due to begin scheduled maintenance work at the Khor Mor gas field in the Chamchamal district of Sulaymaniyah Governorate tomorrow, Friday, 2 October. The operations are expected to continue until 2 November 2026.

The maintenance will temporarily reduce gas production at the field, resulting in fewer hours of electricity supply during the period. However, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has stressed that household gas supplies will not be affected.

The KRG Ministry of Electricity said on Thursday that the UAE-based company would commence the maintenance programme at Khor Mor on Friday.

In a statement, the Ministry said the work would lead to a reduction in electricity supply hours for several hours throughout the maintenance period. It added that it would coordinate with the Ministry of Natural Resources to minimise the impact on electricity provision.

Meanwhile, the KRG Ministry of Natural Resources confirmed that the scheduled maintenance would not affect gas allocated for domestic use.

The Ministry reassured citizens that the month-long operations would not result in any reduction in household gas supplies. It said gas production, currently standing at around 640 million cubic feet per day, would temporarily fall to approximately 520 million cubic feet per day during the maintenance period.

It added that the reduction would be limited and would not affect gas supplies to households.

Dana Gas carries out periodic maintenance at the Khor Mor field every October as temperatures begin to fall across the Kurdistan Region and preparations are made for the winter season.
