Qubad Talabani, Supervisor of the Secretariat Bureau of President Mam Jalal, received a delegation of Egyptian intellectuals and cultural figures on Sunday, with both sides discussing ways to strengthen cultural and intellectual relations between Kurdistan and Egypt.
At the beginning of the meeting, Talabani welcomed the delegation to Sulaymaniyah and expressed hope that their visit to the Kurdistan Region would be fruitful and help pave the way for stronger ties between Kurdish and Egyptian intellectuals.
The two sides highlighted the historic relationship between President Mam Jalal and Egyptian intellectuals, stressing the importance of joint efforts to strengthen and organise cultural relations between Kurdistan and Egypt.
Members of the Egyptian delegation expressed their pleasure at witnessing Sulaymaniyah’s significant progress, particularly in the cultural sector, as well as developments across other fields.
They also praised the role of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and President Bafel Jalal Talabani in maintaining security and stability in the region. The delegation particularly commended the PUK’s position and policies aimed at keeping Iraq and the Kurdistan Region away from regional wars and conflicts.
