The Center for Future Studies (CFS) and the Kurdistan Center for Documentation at the University of Sulaimani unveiled 12 books on Kurdish history, historical documents and manuscripts on Saturday, 26 September 2026.

The books were presented at a ceremony attended by university presidents, academics, intellectuals and university lecturers, marking a new step in efforts to preserve and document Kurdish history and the heritage of Kurdistan.

The publication forms part of a major documentation project jointly undertaken by the two centres, with the 12 volumes making a collection of historical documents and manuscripts available to researchers and readers.

Speaking at the ceremony, CFS President Dr Yousif Goran highlighted the importance of archival work as a key pillar of future-building and nation-building. He also outlined the history of efforts to establish the Kurdistan Center for Documentation, describing it as the first official academic centre dedicated to archives, manuscripts and research to be established under the Kurdistan Regional Government.

Goran described the project as one of the unique documentary initiatives in the Kurdistan Region and expressed his appreciation to everyone who had supported the initiative and contributed to collecting, preserving and entrusting historical documents to the project.

He stressed the importance of continued efforts to preserve historical records and make them accessible for academic research and future generations.

It is noteworthy that the CFS is a non-governmental center established to prepare scientific studies for the public interest, and licensed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region.
