President Amedi Stresses Support for Farmers and Development of Kirkuk’s Agricultural Sector

Iraqi President welcomes a number of farmers from Kirkuk.

Iraqi President Nizar Amedi received a delegation representing farmers from Kirkuk Province on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad.

The meeting, attended by Minister of Justice Dr Khalid Shwani and several Members of Parliament, addressed a range of issues concerning the agricultural sector, the situation of farmers in Kirkuk Province, and ways to address the challenges they face. The discussions also focused on the importance of providing agricultural inputs and supporting efforts to develop the sector.

The President reaffirmed the importance of supporting farmers and meeting their needs in ways that help revitalise agricultural activity and increase local production. He also stressed the need to resolve the issues facing farmers within the framework of the law, while safeguarding their rights and serving the public interest.

The delegation, for its part, presented a number of requests and proposals concerning the agricultural situation in the province, while expressing appreciation for the President’s attention to farmers’ affairs and their needs.
