Iraqi Prime Minister Heads to New York for UN General Assembly.

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi travelled to New York early on Monday to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and deliver Iraq’s address to representatives of UN member states.

According to a statement from his office, Al-Zaidi will set out Iraq’s position on regional and international developments and crises, as well as the government’s approach to addressing the economic and development challenges facing the country.

The statement said the Prime Minister will also highlight key measures being taken to advance economic reform, diversify sources of national income and production, combat corruption, attract investment and uphold national sovereignty.

During his visit, Al-Zaidi is also expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with heads of state, heads of government and leaders of participating delegations. The discussions will focus on relations between Iraq and friendly and partner countries, as well as opportunities to expand and strengthen economic cooperation for mutual benefit.
