US President Donald Trump plans to greet Chinese President Xi ‌Jinping at Joint Base Andrews, at the airport of the military base just outside Washington, DC, on his arrival next week for a White House visit, Reuters reported citing a senior US official told reporters on Friday.

It is unusual for the US president to personally greet visiting foreign leaders at the airport.

Senior US officials who briefed reporters on the visit said the programme would include an arrival ceremony at the White House, a military review in the Rose Garden and a state dinner in the evening.

The officials said the dinner would be attended by several leading technology executives, including Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell.

Trade, the flow of rare earth minerals into the global economy and artificial intelligence are expected to be among the key issues discussed during the visit, the officials said.
