French President Emmanuel Macron.
French President Emmanuel Macron said on Friday that France was working on projects to develop alternative energy routes from Iraq towards Europe, as Paris seeks to reduce its reliance on the Strait of Hormuz amid ongoing regional tensions.
Speaking at a press conference, Macron said France was working with Iraq and regional partners to develop energy corridors and diversify supply routes, with the aim of strengthening energy security and reducing dependence on the strategic waterway.
Macron said the escalation of tensions in the Middle East had contributed to a significant rise in global energy prices.
