Qubad Talabani: Efforts Intensified to Form New KRG Cabinet

Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Qubad Talabani received Holly Vere, the British Consul General to the Kurdistan Region, on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, to discuss several issues of mutual interest.

The meeting focused on the formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government cabinet. Talabani noted that efforts to form the government had intensified, expressing hope that the political parties would soon reach a final agreement to establish a service-oriented government based on genuine partnership.

The political situation in Iraq was also discussed, with both sides stressing the importance of supporting the federal government’s measures to uphold the rule of law. Talabani highlighted the need for political parties to cooperate with the federal government to complete the formation of the new cabinet and fill all remaining positions.

The meeting also underscored the importance of continuing joint initiatives between the British Consulate and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, including the regional development project.
