Justice Minister Reviews Iraq’s Rule of Law Strategy Implementation Plan

Federal Minister of Justice Dr Khalid Shwani chaired a meeting on Tuesday of the national team responsible for monitoring the implementation of Iraq’s strategy to strengthen the rule of law.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Justice received by PUKMEDIA, Shwani, who heads the national team tasked with preparing the national strategy, chaired a periodic meeting of the team overseeing the implementation and monitoring of the strategy and its master implementation plan for Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region, for 2025–2029.

The meeting was attended by the team’s first and second deputy chairs, Ministry of Justice Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs Burhan Al-Qaisi and Kurdistan Region Ministry of Justice Undersecretary Shilan Arif, along with other team members and a representative of the Al-Muhaqqiq Organisation.

The meeting focused on the final review of the master implementation plan and consideration of comments and proposals submitted regarding it.

Shwani stressed that the national strategy serves as a roadmap for strengthening the rule of law in Iraq and consolidating the foundations of institutional work. He said the strategy is aligned with the government programme and applicable laws and regulations, while helping to strengthen Iraq’s standing regionally and internationally and improve services provided to citizens in accordance with the principles of justice and the rule of law.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the comments and proposals concerning the master implementation plan were reviewed and adopted as part of the implementation framework for the national rule of law strategy.
