Cologne Exhibition Highlights Decades Of Iraqi And Kurdish Artistic Expression

Iraq Germany Kurds Ba'ath regime

The annual exhibition featuring German and international artists opened in Cologne on Sunday, showcasing works by artists from a range of artistic backgrounds.

Among those featured was Iraqi artist Hussam al-Bassam, whose collection included paintings dating back more than five decades.

Kurdish painter Hazhar Kalhouri also presented a selection of distinctive works, many of which portray the suffering endured by the Kurdish people under Iraq's fallen Ba'ath regime, including during the Anfal campaign.

The exhibition brings together diverse artistic perspectives, highlighting the experiences, history and cultural heritage reflected in the works of its participating artists.
