Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi arrived at the Élysée Palace, where he was received by French President Emmanuel Macron.

The two leaders are set to hold a summit focused on strengthening bilateral relations, with several memoranda of understanding expected to be signed across a range of sectors.

Al-Zaidi's European tour forms part of the government's strategy to strengthen Iraq's international relations and expand opportunities for cooperation and partnership with France and Germany, particularly in the energy, security and transport sectors, as well as other vital areas.

During the tour, al-Zaidi is scheduled to meet French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to discuss a range of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

The Iraqi prime minister is leading an expanded delegation in talks with French and German officials, focusing on ways to strengthen economic partnerships amid ongoing regional and global challenges.

The visit is also expected to result in the signing of memoranda of understanding covering energy, security, transport, education and culture, with the agreements aimed at deepening cooperation and further strengthening bilateral relations.
