Under the slogan “In Service of Humanity and Peaceful Coexistence,” the Kurdistan Commando Forces provided medical and first aid services to pilgrims commemorating Arba’een in the holy city of Karbala, in a humanitarian initiative that reflected solidarity among Iraq’s diverse communities.
As part of the campaign, the Command set up a field hospital on the Hilla–Karbala road, one of the main routes used by pilgrims, to provide emergency healthcare and rapid medical intervention.
Operating around the clock from 23 July to 4 August 2026, the field hospital maintained a high level of readiness with specialised medical staff, delivering healthcare services to pilgrims participating in the Arba’een commemorations as well as local residents.
During the campaign, the medical teams provided extensive healthcare services, including:
•Treating 12,226 patients and dispensing medicines
•Measuring blood pressure for 8,352 people
•Conducting blood sugar tests for 7,940 people
•Treating 3,982 wound cases
•Carrying out 477 blood tests
•Suturing 128 wounds
•Transferring eight patients to the field hospital
Medical teams also responded to several serious cases, including:
•Referring 10 patients to hospitals in Karbala
•Treating nine cases of breathing difficulties
•Responding to two heart attack cases
•Handling one miscarriage case
The Kurdistan Commando Forces Command stressed that these humanitarian efforts were carried out alongside its security responsibilities to maintain stability. It reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its humanitarian, medical and social duties in service of all the people of Iraq without discrimination.
