Iraqi President Emphasises Importance of Sustaining Dialogue and Safeguarding Regional Stability

Iraqi President Nizar Amedi received Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadegh, the Ambassador of Iran to Iraq, at Baghdad Palace on Sunday, 19 April 2026, where the Ambassador extended his congratulations on the President assuming office and wished him success in carrying out his duties.

According to a statement by the Iraqi Presidency, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and explored ways to further strengthen cooperation across various fields in support of their shared interests. They also discussed developments in the regional security situation.

President Amedi stressed the importance of continuing dialogue, easing tensions, and shielding the region from the dangers of war, in a manner that would contribute to strengthening international peace and security.
