Italian Defence Minister: Attacking the Kurds Is a Red Line

Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto stated that any attack on the Kurds constitutes a red line, warning that undermining Kurdish security would lead to the resurgence of the Islamic State (IS) and poses a direct threat to Europe.

Speaking at the 62nd Munich Security Conference (MSC), Crosetto said no force should test themselves with attacking the Kurds as that is a red line.

“IS remains a major threat, and any attack on the Kurds or effort to weaken their position would allow IS terrorists to reorganise, which would directly endanger European countries,” he said.

His remarks were delivered on the third day of the Munich Security Conference, where regional and international security challenges are being discussed.
