Relative Calm Reported Along Front Lines in Jazira and Kobani Regions

A relative calm has prevailed along most front lines in the Jazira and Kobani regions of western Kurdistan, following recent clashes between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and factions affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government.
In the Jazira region, the situation eased on Wednesday after overnight attacks targeting several areas, particularly south of the town of Jal Agha. According to local reports, the village of Baqla was struck by seven suicide drones, while artillery shelling also hit areas near the village of Safa. Despite these incidents, the security situation stabilised during daylight hours.
Meanwhile, west of Kobani, reports emerged of military build-ups and attacks on the villages of Qasimiya and Zarkutak. However, since dawn, most front lines in the area have remained relatively quiet.
Against this backdrop, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria issued a statement addressing recent international positions on the attacks and the ongoing siege imposed on parts of the region. The administration said it had closely followed the joint US-European statement welcoming the extension of the ceasefire in North and East Syria, including calls to respect the truce, support stability, maintain humanitarian corridors and resume essential services, particularly in Kobani.
While welcoming any initiative aimed at halting violence and protecting civilians, the administration said the reality on the ground contradicts the content of international statements. It accused the Syrian government in Damascus of continuing military operations and violating the ceasefire in defiance of international appeals, without any effective deterrent measures being taken.
The statement further stressed that political declarations without concrete action are insufficient, especially as the siege on Kobani continues and areas considered relatively safe remain exposed to repeated attacks. Such developments, it said, threaten civilian lives and undermine stability.
The Autonomous Administration called on the international community and the parties sponsoring the ceasefire to adopt serious and responsible positions, urging them to move beyond statements towards practical steps that ensure civilian protection, halt attacks, lift the siege and guarantee the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid.
