Two prominent tribes in Mosul have announced their full support for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and List No. 281 of the Itihad Ahl Nainawa Coalition [Nineveh People’s Union Coalition] in the upcoming 2025 Iraqi parliamentary elections.
Sheikh Ahmed Ibrahim al-Saadoun Agha, Sheikh of the al-Karaan clan of the al-Akidat tribe, and Sheikh Nibras al-Hakkouri, Sheikh of the al-Bulil clan, together with a large group of community figures and dignitaries in Nineveh Governorate, reaffirmed their backing for the PUK and its electoral programme.
Aras Mohammed Agha, Supervisor of the PUK’s Nineveh Electoral Constituency, welcomed the announcement, expressing his appreciation for the patriotic stance of Mosul’s sheikhs and notables.
“We deeply value the trust and support of the tribes and dignitaries of Nineveh,” he said. “Their endorsement strengthens our efforts to ensure success in the upcoming elections and to serve the people of Mosul with dedication.”
