French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Arabia have voiced strong support for Qatar following an Iranian strike on its territory. Macron urged restraint and a return to diplomacy, while Riyadh condemned the attack as a grave violation of international law and pledged full backing for Qatar.
France
French President Emmanuel Macron expressed solidarity with Qatar and called for de-escalation of the situation in a statement on X, stating: "I express France's solidarity with Qatar, which has been struck by Iran on its soil. I am in close contact with the country's authorities and our partners in the region. I call on all parties to exercise the utmost restraint, de-escalate, and return to the negotiating table. This spiral of chaos must end."
Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia condemned ‘unjustifiable’ Iran attack on Qatar, offering ‘full support’ to the country.
A statement by the Saudi Foreign Ministry said: "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia condemns and denounces in the strongest terms the aggression launched by Iran against the sisterly State of Qatar, which constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and the principles of good neighborliness. It is unacceptable and cannot be justified under any circumstances. The Kingdom affirmed its solidarity and full support for Qatar and is deploying all its capabilities to support the country in all measures it takes."
