The Kurdistan Region Tourism Board is preparing to welcome tourists for the New Year holidays, expecting over 300,000 visitors.
Kurdistan Region is Ready to Welcome Tourists
Ibrahim Abdul Majeed, Spokesperson for the Kurdistan Region Tourism Board, told PUKMEDIA: "Based on our plans and preparations, we anticipate welcoming more than 300,000 tourists during the New Year holidays, which will last for a full week."
He added: "Both public and private tourist destinations are ready to accommodate visitors, and all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth experience."
Providing All Necessary Facilities for Tourists
The Tourism Board Spokesperson noted: "The number of tourists visiting the Kurdistan Region increases every year, largely due to the development of the Region's tourism infrastructure. Last year alone, approximately $7.5 billion was invested in the tourism sector."
He continued: "Additionally, the facilities provided to tourists across the Kurdistan Region have helped boost tourism, with tourists being well-received at border crossings and checkpoints."
Winter Events Boost Tourism Numbers
He further said: "Winter events, particularly during the autumn and winter seasons, have played a significant role in attracting more tourists to the Kurdistan Region."
He added: "We offer a variety of winter events and festivals, which feature local products, alongside other activities, including visits to snow-covered areas."
Numerous Tourist Attractions in the Kurdistan Region
The spokesperson for the Tourism Board explained that the Kurdistan Region boasts 3,100 tourist sites offering services to visitors.
He continued: "This includes 468 large hotels, 280 motels, 10 amusement parks, around 600 tourist restaurants, and 700 cafes. There are also over 700 tourism companies operating in the Region."
He added: "In addition, there are 54 tourist complexes, plus numerous other locations offering services, and we expect all these establishments to follow the guidelines issued by the Tourism Board."
Two Levels of Tourist Reception
Abdul Majeed explained that they are working on two levels to receive tourists, with clear procedures in place. The first level is the public sector, which aims to provide the best possible experience in cooperation with the Tourism Board, the General Directorates of Tourism, and relevant bodies within the Kurdistan Regional Government and the independent administrations. Additionaly, the second level involves the private sector and tourist venues. "We have held numerous meetings with them to ensure they offer top-quality services and create a welcoming environment for tourists," he said.
