The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) are due to meet in Pirmam tomorrow to discuss the formation of a government and the resumption of the Kurdistan Parliament's activities.
In this context, Saadi Ahmed Pire, the Spokesperson for the PUK, told PUKMEDIA: "The two delegations from the PUK and the KDP will meet tomorrow in Pirmam to discuss the formation of the new government cabinet in the Kurdistan Region."
Pire also said: "The meeting will focus on the mechanisms for forming the new government cabinet in the Kurdistan Region, as well as the activation of the Kurdistan Parliament. We also believe it is essential to address the latest developments in the surrounding region, given the sensitive nature of the situation, especially in light of recent events in Syria."
The delegations from the PUK and the KDP previously met on 30th November 2024 at the headquarters of the PUK's Political Bureau in Sulaymaniyah.
A statement issued after the meeting, which was received by PUKMEDIA, described the discussions as taking place in a positive atmosphere. The two sides focused on the post-election phase of the sixth term of the Kurdistan Parliament and highlighted the importance of preparing joint actions that would serve the best interests of the people of Kurdistan.
The PUK delegation was led by Qubad Talabani, Supervisor of the General Secretariat of President Mam Jalal, while the KDP delegation was led by Hoshyar Zebari, a member of the party’s Political Bureau.
