Nechirvan Barzani, President of Kurdistan Region
During a news conference with the media, the President of the Kurdistan Region, who is currently on an official visit to Austria, stated that there is no concrete evidence to indicate that the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), as a political party, was responsible for the fire incidents on the marketplaces in the Kurdistan Region.
The PUK was not behind the events
Nechirvan
Barzani, the President of the Kurdistan Region, said: "There is no
evidence that the PUK, as a political party, was responsible for the fire
incidents on the marketplaces in the Kurdistan Region."
"While there may be individuals who were previously members of the party,
there is no official evidence to suggest that the PUK, as a political party,
was responsible for these incidents," he stated.
PUK Spokesman: PUK firmly Denies these allegations
During a
recent press conference, Saadi Ahmed Pire, the spokesman for the PUK, addressed
the allegations made against the party and said: "The PUK firmly denies
these allegations targeting the PUK."
"The PUK strongly denounces all acts of destruction that specifically
target the citizens of the Kurdistan Region and tarnish the reputation of our
Region. At the same time, we are prepared to take whatever action is necessary
in order to expose the true story of the events," he added.
He further said: "The Kurdistan Democratic Party wants to create obstacles
to holding the elections because it is afraid of the elections."
Erbil Governor: A short circuit was the cause of the incidents
Earlier, during a news conference, Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw stated that the fires were caused by electrical short circuits, the use of welding machines, and other technical factors. This has caused questions among people regarding the recent news conference of the Iraq and Kurdistan Region's ministries of interior.
