The Deputy Prime Minister praised the teachers and commanders at Qalachwalan Military College, noting that many of its graduates hold important positions in Kurdistan and Iraq.
Qubad Talabani stated that there was a previous mindset hindering women's involvement in these courses, but it has now diminished and should be eliminated entirely. He expressed pleasure that the number of women participating in courses at the Qalachwalan Military College is increasing annually and that they are prepared to protect Kurdistan's land and citizens alongside men.
Qubad Talabani: We do not want a force to oppress anyone
Qubad Talabani stated: "We have full confidence in the ability of women in the Peshmerga and other security forces, and we encourage women to work harder to develop their skills and expertise in the security forces."
He expressed his desire for a professional defense force in Kurdistan that would protect the territory and its residents while not oppressing any individual or group.
Qubad Talabani praised women's contributions to protecting Kurdistan's territory and maintaining national stability, stating that Kurdish women have consistently fought alongside men in defence of their land and country. Thus, additional efforts are needed to increase women's participation in security services.
