Iraqi Leaders Praise Mam Jalal's Role in Iraq

Kurdish and Iraqi leaders commemorate Mam Jalal in a ceremony
The sixth anniversary of the passing of President Mam Jalal was commemorated in Baghdad in the presence of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President, the Iraqi President, the Iraqi Prime Minister, and several Iraqi leaders and diplomats.
The commemoration began with the Iraqi national anthem, followed by several verses from the Holy Quran and a documentary film titled Mam Jalal, the Leader of All Times.
President Rashid: Mam Jalal dedicated his life to promoting harmonyPresident Abdullatif Jamal Rashid of Iraq praised President Mam Jalal's role in Iraq, stating, "Mam Jalal devoted his life to Iraqi unity and made substantial contributions in this regard. Mam's life, as recorded history shows, was one of struggle and pride.”
He continued, "Mam Jalal's defense of the rights of the entire Iraqi people earned him the title of (صمام الأمان, meaning safety valve) from the Supreme Religious Authority, Sayyid Ali Husayn Sistani."
President Rashid continued, "Mam's life and struggle are considerably more extensive than we can convey at a ceremony like this or in a few paragraphs. We ask that God grant him a place of eternal bliss in heaven.
Al-Sudani: Mam Jalal's legacy lives onAt the ceremony, Iraq's Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, delivered a speech in which he stated, "Six years ago, Iraq experienced a terrible day when a great leader like Mam Jalal passed away, whose place is difficult to fill."
"President Talabani devoted his life to Iraqis and democracy in Iraq; as a result, his name will endure, and in this ceremony, we offer President Talabani our deepest condolences and ask God to forgive him," he added.
In his speech, the Prime Minister also congratulated President Bafel Jalal Talabani on his re-election to the position of PUK president and the new PUK leadership.
Al-Hakim: Mam Jalal never gave up the rights of his people
Ammar al-Hakim, the Leader of the National Wisdom Movement, spoke at the ceremony about President Mam Jalal's role in the new Iraq, saying, "The efforts of President Mam Jalal are evident in a new, democratic Iraq, and he has never abandoned the rights of the Kurdish people." He worked tirelessly to achieve his people's objectives."
"Our relationship with Mam Jalal and the Kurdish people is longstanding and close. We hold him in high regard because we have both made sacrifices to achieve the same objective: a democratic Iraq," he continued.
President Mam Jalal has fought against injustice and worked to establish a democratic foundation in the Constitution from the beginning of his life, which is why he is regarded as a national leader by everyone. We ask God to forgive the soul of President Mam Jalal.
PJTF President: Iraqis will never forget Mam JalalThe President of President Jalal Talabani's Foundation (PJTF), Ambassador Dr. Mohammed Sabir, who oversaw the ceremony, then gave a speech in which he thanked the attendees on behalf of Mam Jalal's family and stated, "The Iraqi people will never forget him."
"Mam Jalal has consistently worked to promote harmony and peace among all communities in Iraq, as well as to rebuild Iraq and protect its sovereignty. He was the key to resolving the issues and a close friend of all Iraqi political parties. "On behalf of the PJTF, I would like to thank everyone who attended tonight's memorial service for President Mam Jalal," he continued.
Today marks the sixth anniversary of President Mam Jalal's passing. In honor of his passing, a wreath of flowers was placed at his mausoleum in Sulaymaniyah, and a ceremony was performed in Baghdad today.
The PJTF and the Bahr al-Uloom Foundation will commemorate the anniversary of President Mam Jalal's death on October 4, at 11 p.m., in Najaf. During the ceremony, a number of panels will present diverse research on the late President Mam Jalal.
